US discount retailer Dollar General will enter California, with plans to open its first stores in the state in 2012, after successful western expansion in recent years.Chairman and CEO of Dollar General, Rick Dreiling, commented: “Our California stores will mark a significant milestone for Dollar General, giving us a coast-to-coast presence for the first time."
Dollar General plans to serve California shoppers in suburban, rural and metropolitan markets.
Dollar General has nearly doubled its size since 2000, growing from 5,000 stores to over 9,500 today.
