The EU should provide better information to tackle the issues such as eating red meat.
A recent study carried out by the World Cancer Fund said consumers should limit the amount of red meat they eat to the equivalent to one lamb chop or two slices of roast beef a day, in order to reduce the risk of developing bowel cancer. According to the study, red and processed meat can increase the risk of bowel cancer and people are advised to eat under 90g per day.
However a study released at the end of February this year from the British Nutrition Foundation shows that eating red meat as part of a healthy diet is not linked to any adverse health effects. The research found that eating red meat in moderation as part of a well-balanced diet actually benefited the body, providing essential nutrients required for a healthy diet.
